A strange thing has been happening to me during Lockdown. A mysterious guest has entered my life and taken up residence. Her name is Creativity. She is quite pushy and insistent. She takes her space each day, imposing herself on my daily habits and intruding on my time. She picks up a pen for me most mornings, increasingly for poetry, not just prose. She has me noodling with pastels, picking up the guitar and remembering songs I once wrote, creating musical playlists, dancing in my kitchen, designing new ways of working, dreaming up new ways of living and transporting me to places in my mind way more exotic than my day to day. It turns out that she is a veritable temptress and a bit of diva, demanding, as she does, increasing amounts of attention and space. I have already sacrificed TV time, cooking time, working time and even Zoom time to hang out with her. She devours it all and then sits, looking at me expectantly and asking me what’s next.
The funny thing is that despite loving my independence, I kind of like her. She takes me to different places when planes can’t. She brings colour and texture to grey Scottish days. She is a very entertaining companion in COVID times and is bringing out a side of me which, if I’m honest, I really like and that has energy and flair. She is doing a damn good job of concocting visions for the future for which, bearing in mind the current world situation, I am hugely grateful. I also love the fact that she got my new website done for me which is going to be launched very soon.
In essence I recommend her. I believe her services to be available to everyone. You can’t find her on LinkedIn though, nor Facebook. To find her, she says you need to “look inside”. Make of that what you will. I can testify to the fact that she enhances life and work and adds zest to the daily Lockdown grind. She is keen to hang out with those in leadership positions as she believes she is their kind of woman, if only she could attract their attention. She doesn’t cost anything and is very accommodating. She is very friendly and simply adjusts her style to suit yours. She just needs a little space. That’s it. She is also currently operating a “100% satisfaction guarantee or your money back” offer.
Go on, do it. What do you have to lose? Worst case scenario, you will have a different kind of day with some extra daydreaming and playfulness. Best case scenario, you will find gold and a way through these unprecedented times.
